By The Daily Bharat Express TDBE(Desk): A four-feet deep and wide pit was found adjacent to the boundary wall of the strategically important Hindon airbase in Ghaziabad, raising an alert. The local police said that the possibility of an infiltration attempt cannot be ruled out.
“On December 10, local people informed the Tila Mod police station that a pit had been dug near the outer wall of Hindon Airport. After this information, the spot was inspected by police and Hindon airbase officials. This pit is situated near the boundary,” Shubham Patel, DCP, Trans Hindon, Ghaziabad, was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
Patel further said that an FIR has been registered based on the complaint of the airport security officer. He added that the matter is being thoroughly investigated.
A report in News stated some netizens had taken pictures and videos of the pit and uploaded it on social media, tagging the police and the air force. The officers are also looking into these visuals.
Patel said that CCTV footage etc. is also being checked. Soon, action will be taken against the people involved in this incident, he added.
According to the DCP, it could be the case of somebody trying to dig a tunnel to enter the premises. possibility of an infiltration attempts by some anti-national elements, or some terrorist outfit cannot be ruled out, he added.
The Daily Bharat Express News Desk stated that apart from police, other investigating agencies have also started probing the matter as it’s related to the strategically important airbase.
The pit has been filled temporarily by mud and soil, he said. The Hindan airbase is just 10-12 kilometers away from Delhi and is the biggest and largest airbase in Asia. It comes under the Western Air Command.
