Story By The Daily Bharat Express-Digital Desk: Amid the ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra of Congress, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said on Saturday that it is facing massive problems in getting permission for organizing some public meetings in West Bengal. Speaking to reporters in Siliguri, Chowdhury said that the party wanted to organize public meetings in certain places, but due to school examinations, permission was not granted.
“In some places, we are facing roadblocks as we are not getting permission to organize public meetings, citing exams. The Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra has faced problems in the Northeast, including Assam, and now it is facing problems in TMC-ruled West Bengal as well,” he said.
The West Bengal Congress president, Chowdhury, said that they thought of getting “relaxations” in some places in West Bengal for the public meetings but the administration “is saying that they can’t give it”.
The Rahul Gandhi-led Yatra, which began in Manipur on January 14, entered West Bengal from Assam on Thursday and took a two-day break. It will resume on January 28. Meanwhile, the ruling Trinamool Congress claimed that the administration in West Bengal is free of political influences.
“Adhir Chowdhury is responsible for the INDIA alliance falling apart in West Bengal. Secondly, all opposition parties conduct programs in the state, nobody faces any problems. The administration must have taken the decision as there are board examinations in schools,” TMC MP Santanu Sen said.
The rift between the Grand Old Party and Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee-led TMC has deepened in the past few days. Earlier, Banerjee announced to go solo in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Bengal amid a tussle over seat sharing with Congress. Meanwhile, the war of words between Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and several leaders of the TMC has significantly increased in news headlines.
