Story By The Daily Bharat Express (Digital-Desk): Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Bobby Deol’s much awaited film Animal has finally released in theatres and the Sandeep Reddy Vanga has managed to strike a chord with the audience. While the movie has opened to mixed reviews from the critics, it has recorded phenomenal numbers on its opening day at the box office.
According to Box Office India, the Hindi version of Animal has shown tremendous response in theatres. It is likely to earn up to Rs 52-53 crore net. The film has also opened to a great response in Telugu and the collection from the dubbed versions is expected to go up to Rs 10 crore plus net. The film is now aiming for Rs 63-65 crore net opening for all languages.
With this grand opening, Animal will now become the 3rd or the 4th highest opener in Hindi and 2nd highest opener ever in all languages after Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan and beating the first day collections of Pathaan (Rs 57 crore), KGF 2 (Rs 53.95 crore), War (Rs 53.35), Thugs Of Hindustan (Rs 52.25), Happy New Year (Rs 44.97), Tiger 3 (Rs 44.50), Bharat (Rs 42.30), Baahubali 2 (Rs 41 crore), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (Rs 40.35 crore) and Gadar 2 (Rs 40.10).
It will be now interesting to see how the numbers will grow in the coming days as Ranbir has undoubtedly smashed it hard with his fierce avatar in Animal. Rashmika, Bobby, Anil Kapoor have also been receiving praises and appreciation for their powerful performances.
But here’s how the audience has reacted to the movie:
One person felt that Sandeep Reddy Vanga should be jailed for making such a movie. While it raises expectations in the first half, it falls flat in the second half. Many people felt that despite the heavy violence it was quite a thrilling experience to watch this movie. Some felt that Rashmika Mandanna was not up to the mark and there could have been a better actress.
However, some opined that this love is actually a love story and the chemistry between Rashmika and Ranbir is too good. As far as the performance is concerned, people felt Ranbir could win a National Award for this one. While one person said, this can’t still be compared to his ace act in ‘Rockstar’, nonetheless it’s one of his best performances. People also loved Anil Kapoor’s performance and the father-son chemistry between the two.
But one opinion remains synonymous with everyone – Bobby Deol is wasted! People felt Bobby had a very small role in the film and there should have been more of him. The audience thought they didn’t get enough of Bobby, and he’s called Lord Bobby for a reason!
The film is 3 hours 21 minutes long, but people felt that it doesn’t seem boring. It keeps your glued all through and that’s the beauty of south directors.
