Story By TDBE (The Daily Bharat Express, Desk): Amid growing allegations by Opposition that proposed tableaux of non-BJP ruled states for the Republic Day parade are being rejected by the Centre due to partisan bias, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday alleged that the central government rejected all the tableau proposals sent by the state government.
“The Central Government has insulted the seven crore Kannadigas by denying the opportunity for the state’s tableau at the Republic Day parade to be held in New Delhi on January 26th,” he posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The chief minister of Congress-ruled Karnataka added, “Karnataka faced similar situation even last year as our state’s tableau was initially rejected. They later permitted keeping Karnataka elections in mind. This time, the central government has again continued its trend of insulting Kannadigas.”
The X post added, “Several tableau proposals were sent from Karnataka, but unfortunately the Central Government has rejected all these proposals. We had conceptualized the tableau of Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar to depict his immense contributions to democracy and development of our state. We had also sent proposals to depict the contributions of Kittur Rani Chennamma and Nada Prabhu Kempe Gowda too along with the proposals to showcase Karnataka’s rich nature and Brand Bengaluru.”
Earlier, the tableaux of Punjab, Delhi, and West Bengal were turned down by the Centre. Although no official statement regarding the rejections was issued by the BJP-led central government, defense ministry sources cited by news agency ANI had said that the tableaux did not align with the “broader themes” of this year’s Republic Day parade.
Speaking on the rejection of Delhi’s and Punjab’s tableaux, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had alleged that the Centre has discriminated against the states ruled by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He had also claimed that the decision of the centre shows how much “poison” it has in its heart against the people of Punjab. Meanwhile, Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj had said that the BJP-led Centre keeps “bothering” the Delhi and Punjab governments.
